First Touch Advanced

The first touch advanced class is designed for players who are ready to take their first touch to the next level. This class will focus on developing the skill set needed to execute the first touch under pressure and in such a manner that the player can be one step ahead of their opponent. We will also challenge players to think about and anticipate their first touch move before receiving the ball.  The curriculum will focus on balls on the ground and in the air, opponent in front, side and back and offensively and defensively.

Class Prerequisites:

Players should be able to control moderate difficult passes and keep close proximity to the ball when receiving it.

The class will further explore dynamic 1st touches, using various body parts to control the ball, and protecting the ball from pressure.

Benchmarks to Advance:

  • The player has to be aware of the angles in which they can receive the ball in order to proceed their actions towards the open space.
  • The player has to be able to receive and control the ball in various situations (pass over the ground, pass in the air, pass with a bounce).
  • The player has to be able to pass the ball accurately with the inside, outside, curves and laces while the ball is lying still or when the ball is rolling.
  • The player has to be able to receive the ball from different angles and receive their first touch in multiple directions (turn in the direction of the ball, open up, opposite side) in all phases of pressure.
