Dutch Total Soccer (DTS) in conjunction with Soccer Centers of Somerset is excited to announce the formation of the new DTS S.T.E.P. Academy, which stands for Soccer Training & Education Program. The program is now open for players in the age groups 2018-2015. The DTS STEP Academy is for committed junior soccer players looking to build a technical foundation and grow as a player to prepare for a soccer career at the travel or premier levels.
What makes the DTS STEP Academy different?
Over the last decade in soccer the emphasis for parents has changed drastically. Players at a very early age are pushed into high level clubs where the focus of the club may not be on long term development but immediate results. The eventual outcome is a high turnover rate for the teams, with coaches’ attention centered on recruiting better players instead of the development of their existing ones. S.T.E.P. takes away the stress of short-term focused programs and teaches players to love the game of soccer while pursuing their maximum potential.
We select players who are committed, who want to improve and learn the sport of soccer, and who are excited to be here! Our focus is on creating a positive growth opportunity for your player through character building and teaching the building blocks of the game to make sure they have the foundation necessary to succeed in the future.
Who are the DTS Staff?
The DTS Staff, who have soccer coaching credentials from the United States and/or from abroad, coached and trained area players that have gone on to play regional and national ODP as well as collegiate-level soccer. These are the same coaches who are working on the DTS STEP Academ Program. The common denominator in any success player is a strong soccer foundation developed at an early age. By having our professional staff build the STEP Academy, we hope to have a positive influence in the soccer community for years to come.
What can I expect to see from the DTS STEP Academy?
What The DTS S.T.E.P. Academy will provide a ten month training program that will cover all aspects of training. Our staff will provide on-going evaluations and guidance to the players. Parents are included in the process, making sure expectations are managed and the direction for the player is focused on the long term. All training will take place at our indoor and outdoor training facility located in Somerset, NJ. The Fall and Spring sessions will emphasize technical skill development and Speed & Agility training. The Winter indoor program will continue with the technical development on the indoor turf and adds futsal specific training on the futsal court. The DTS S.T.E.P. Academy will incorporate small sided scrimmages as well as take part in games. Players will be encouraged to test their new skills without fear of failure. Your child will become a more confident player.
What is included in the DTS STEP Academy?
The full DTS STEP Academy starts in September and ends in June, providing over 70 hours of professional training for your player. Players have the option to register for the full year or to register season by season. Training Schedule:
Fall & Spring Training (Outdoor): 2 x 1 hour sessions per week.
Winter Training (Indoor): 1 x 1 hour session per week.
