This class will go beyond teaching the mechanics of shooting & the curriculum will focus on teaching a player to make any opportunity into a goal! Players will learn to judge a situation in front of the goal and make the right decision in a split second.
During the class, the curriculum will cover various goal scoring opportunities such as 1 on 1, crosses from the side, receiving the ball with your back to the goal, movement off the ball, heading and much more.
*This class has restricted registration. In order to participate, players must possess all prerequisite skills listed below. If during the session the curriculum is not a good fit; the player will switch to an alternate training class.
Class Prerequisites:
Players must be ages 10-14 years old and possess the following skills:
- The player has to be able to connect a dribble, skill or combination to beat the ‘defender’ and create space in order to finish on goal
- The player can place the ball accurately from different angles while the ball is still or not moving
- Player displays a good general shooting technique with their non-dominant/weaker foot (Must be able to strike the ball with both feet)
Benchmarks to Advance:
- The player has to be able to shoot the ball from multiple angles (in front, from the sides, pull back) in combination with accurate placing on the goal.
- The player has to be able to use different sides and effects of the foot to shoot the ball while the ball is rolling on angle, in front of the goal, 1 touch and out of the bounce.
- The player has to be able to connect a dribble, skill or combination to beat the ‘defender’ and create space in order to finish on goal.
- The player has to be able to place the ball accurately from different angles while the ball is lying still, rolling or bouncing.
